Genius weft hair extensions are ultra-thin, cuttable wefts with no folded top. They give salons a flat, invisible install with no shedding.

At Govihair, we make every genius weft by hand in our own factory in Da Nang, Vietnam. We use raw and virgin Vietnamese hair and sew three seam widths: 1mm, 1.5mm and 2.5mm.

What Are Genius Weft Hair Extensions?

Short answer: A genius weft is a thin human hair weft with no folded top and no return hair. It is sewn with two ultra-fine stitch lines, then sealed with a liquid glue line. Stylists can cut it to any width without shedding.

Some salons also call them micro wefts or invisible wefts. Stylists install them on beaded rows, sewn rows or as short tape-in style pieces.

A classic machine weft folds the hair over a thick stitched band. That fold leaves short return hairs and adds bulk at the root. A genius weft has no fold, so it lies flat, under 1mm thick, and moves with the client’s own hair.

1mm, 1.5mm or 2.5mm Genius Weft: Which Seam to Choose

The number is the distance between the two stitch lines. We sew the hair with two fine lines 1mm, 1.5mm or 2.5mm apart. Then we add a liquid glue line over them, so the weft holds firmly and does not shed.

On our 2.5mm genius weft, the two stitch lines sit 2.5mm apart. All three seams are priced the same.

Genius Weft vs Machine Weft, Hand-Tied Weft and Tape-In

Short answer: A genius weft is as thin as a hand-tied weft but, unlike hand-tied, it can be cut anywhere. It has no return hair, unlike a machine weft. It can also be cut into short pieces and used like a tape-in.

Which Genius Weft Grade Should You Choose?

• Double Drawn: short strands removed, standard fullness. The prices above are for this grade.
• Super Double Drawn: about 80% of strands run the same length, none under 12 inches. The safest choice for 16 to 24 inches.
• Luxury: about 90% of strands run the same length, none under 14 inches. The fullest ends we make.

Why Blonde Genius Wefts Cost More

Bleaching removes colour and some weight from the hair. To deliver the full net weight you pay for, we start each order with extra raw hair.

Which Raw Vietnamese Hair Is Used for Each Colour?

Short answer: The lighter the target colour, the cleaner the raw hair must be. We scrape-test every batch and check how white the layer under the cuticle turns. That reading puts the hair into one of three groups.

Each group is only coloured to the tones it can hold.

Group 1: Raw Donor Hair for Natural Black and Light Blondes

This is raw donor hair with natural baby hair, never chemically treated. Over 95% of the inner layer turns white in the scrape test. It bleaches evenly to platinum and icy blonde, with no yellow patches.

• Colours: natural black #1A and #1B, undyed; light blonde #60, #60A, #60C, 60 Ash, #70, #613, #613C, 613 Ash, #1001, Silver, Grey, Ivory, Mint, Light Purple and the Nordic blondes; white blonde Platinum (PLA) and #12.0.
• Lifespan: 3-5 years with good care.
• Colouring loss: the highest - about 20% for #613 and 25% for platinum.
• 22 inch price: $113.19 natural black, $169.29 light blonde, $193.49 white blonde per 100g.
• Ends: slightly thinner, because of the baby hair. In return, the hair stays soft through bleaching and drying.

Group 2: Raw 2-4 Donor Hair for Light and Fashion Colours

This is raw hair from two to four donors, blended, never treated with chemicals. In the scrape test, about 90% turns white and 10% light yellow. It bleaches to bright mid tones, but not to the lightest blondes.

Group 3: Virgin Hair for Dark Shades

This is virgin Vietnamese hair blended from many donors. In the scrape test, about 70% turns white and 30% brownish yellow. Dark colours are dyed only, never bleached, so the hair keeps its strength.

How Govihair Makes Genius Weft Hair Extensions: 3 Factory Stages

Short answer: Every genius weft passes three stages in our Da Nang factory: sorting, colouring and building the weft. Each stage removes hair that fails our standard. The weight you receive has already passed every check.

Stage 1: Sorting the Raw Hair

1. Scrape test. We test every batch and store it by how light its inner layer is.
2. Grade by ends. We sort the hair into Double Drawn, Super Double Drawn and Luxury.
3. Cleaning. We level the root ends and remove short, weak, golden, grey and red hairs by hand.

Each sorting step removes 3-5% of the hair. That is why a Govihair weft has level ends and even colour.

Stage 2: Colouring

• Right raw hair. We pick raw hair from the group that can hold each shade.
• Machine bleaching and dyeing. We spread the hair thinly, so bleach and dye soak in evenly.
• Timing per shade. We set the time for every shade, so the hair is bleached only as much as needed.
• Custom shades. We mix fashion dyes to match your photo or colour ring.

Our colour match is over 90% accurate. Each shade is coloured by hand with its own formula, so a 100% match is not possible. If the exact shade matters, ask for a colour-match video before production.

Stage 3: Making the Genius Weft

• Two micro stitch lines. Our most skilled seamstresses sew two ultra-fine lines 1mm, 1.5mm or 2.5mm apart. No edge shows.
• Liquid glue line. We seal the lines with our own glue, blended from three glues: one to bond, one to nourish, one for durability. It has no chemical smell.
• Repeated drying. We dry each weft several times in industrial dryers until the glue is fully set but still flexible.
• Packing. We never tie, roll or cut the weft. We fold it into sections of about 10cm, so the glue line arrives flat and safe.

How to Install Genius Weft Hair Extensions

1. Beaded weft row: build a row of micro beads on a clean horizontal parting. Cut the genius weft to the row width and sew it to the beads.
2. Extra volume: stack a second weft on the same row.
3. Tape-in style: cut short sections and apply them like tape-in panels at the hairline, part and crown.
4. Finish: leave a small gap from the scalp, then cut and blend into the client’s hair.

Genius Weft Care Tips

• Wash with a sulphate-free shampoo, working downwards. Never scrub the seam.
• Keep heat tools and lightener away from the seam.
• Store wefts flat between installs, never rolled.

How to Check a Genius Weft Sample Before You Order

Short answer: Run four quick tests on your sample and ask every supplier seven questions in writing. It takes ten minutes and tells you more than any photo.

4 Tests for Your Genius Weft Sample

• Bend test. Fold the weft gently. A good seam bends without cracking or turning white.
• Lump test. Run a finger along the seam. It should feel even, with no hard glue lumps.
• Comb test. Comb firmly from the seam down. Few or no strands should come out.
• Cut test. Cut a 2 inch piece and comb the cut edge. The edge should stay neat, with no loose hairs.

We match your photo or colour ring with over 90% accuracy. Each shade is coloured by hand with its own formula, so a 100% match is not possible.
