What is a 20 inch genius weft?
A genius weft is a machine-sewn weft with a very thin band and no return hair folded over the top. It combines the flat, hidden finish of a hand-tied weft with the strength of a machine weft. You can cut it anywhere along its width and it will not unravel.
A 20 inch genius weft is the length most salons reorder. It falls well below the shoulder blades on most clients, adds clear length and volume, and is still light enough for everyday wear. It also blends easily with layered cuts.
2.5mm ultra-thin weft band
The band on this weft is 2.5mm. A band this thin lies flat against the head, so the row does not show as a ridge under fine hair or as a dark line under light blonde hair. It also means less weight on each bead or stitch.

How to install and care for a 20 inch genius weft

How thin is the weft band?
The band is 2.5mm. It lies flat against the head and stays hidden under fine and light blonde hair.
What is the difference between a genius weft and a hand-tied weft?
Both are thin, but a genius weft is machine sewn with no return hair. You can cut it to any width without it unravelling. A hand-tied weft usually cannot be cut.
Why do the prices differ between shades?
Each shade needs a different base hair and colour process. Dark shades cost the least, light blonde shades more, and #12.0 white blonde the most, because it is lifted to the lightest level.
Can I order more than one shade in the same order?
Yes. You can mix any of the ten shades. The 500 g MOQ counts across the whole order, so you can build a small colour ring from your first order.
Can #77, #61 or #71 be bleached to blonde?
No. These are dyed dark shades on virgin hair and cannot be lifted. For blonde clients, choose one of the raw donor blonde shades instead.
Can the blonde shades be toned?
Yes. A colourist can tone them warmer or cooler with a demi-permanent toner, or dye them darker. Test a small piece first.

What is a genius weft?
A genius weft is a thin, flexible weft where the hair is fixed in a liquid glue line and locked by fine seams instead of a thick machine track. The result is a flat weft that sits close to the scalp, bends with the head and stays hidden even in fine or thin client hair. Because the glue holds every strand, a genius weft is a true cuttable weft: stylists can cut it to any width without the hair shedding at the cut edge.
Why is the 2.5mm genius weft our best seller?
Our 2.5mm genius weft has two ultra-fine seams placed 2.5mm apart. That small gap is the reason it outsells every other line we make:
- Stronger hold: two seams spread the tension, so the weft holds firmly on bead, micro ring and sew-in installs.

Which hair is used for each colour in our genius weft?
Not every hair can reach every colour. Before any colouring, every batch goes through a cuticle scrape test: we scrape the hair and check how white the cuticle stays. The brighter and healthier the cuticle, the higher the tone the hair can safely reach. Based on that test, the hair goes into one of three raw material groups, and each group is only coloured to the tones it can hold.
1. Raw donor and baby hair: for the highest blonde tones
- Source: raw donor hair, including natural baby hair.
- Cuticle test: over 95% white.
- Lifespan: 3 to 5 years with good care.
- Weight loss when colouring: up to 25%.
- Character: the ends are slightly thinner because of natural baby hair, but this hair stays soft and does not dry out during bleaching and drying. It is the only hair we use for platinum and icy tones.

How much hair is lost when colouring a genius weft?
Every lift removes pigment and some weight from the hair. To make sure you receive the full net weight you paid for, we start each order with extra raw hair. This is the real raw material needed for every 100g of finished genius weft:

Stage 1: Sorting and grading the hair
- Cuticle scrape test on every batch.
- Grading by cuticle brightness into raw donor, light colour or dark colour hair.
- Grading by end fullness into Double Drawn, Super Double Drawn and Luxury.
- Pre-processing: we remove short hairs, substandard strands, grey hair and red hair by hand. Each sorting step removes about 3 to 5% of the hair, so what reaches colouring is already clean and even.
Stage 2: Colouring
- Machine-controlled colouring for even results from root to tip.
- The right raw material group is chosen for each target tone, as shown above.
- Processing time is set per tone, so the cuticle is lifted only as much as needed.
- Bespoke fashion colours: send us a photo or a colour ring and we match it with over 90% accuracy. Every batch is hand finished with natural hair, so we do not promise a 100% match, and we tell you that before you order.
Stage 3: Making the genius weft
- Line widths: 1mm, 1.5mm and 2.5mm.
- Our own liquid glue, blended from three glues: one for bonding, one for nourishing the hair and one for durability. Premium quality, with no chemical smell.
